K 2025 review: conversations on flame-retardant systems
Our team met compounders and brand owners in Düsseldorf to discuss brominated and non-halogen options.
At K 2025 our team focused on three questions that came up repeatedly: how a brominated system performs in recycled feedstock, how non-halogen alternatives compare at equal loading, and which documentation the brand owner needs for market access.
Most conversations started with the resin system rather than the additive. For ABS and HIPS compounds, DBDPE remains the reference point; for polyamide, MCA and phosphorus-based options were reviewed against processing temperature and colour requirements.
Samples requested at the show are being dispatched with specification sheets and packaging options. Customers who shared a target formulation will receive a short evaluation summary after their trial run.
